What a Louisiana treasure these guys were. Sludge metal at its best. And Dax continues to put out great music to this day. It's a shame I'll never be able to see these guys live or hear another album.

Has Dax put anything out since 2010?

Yikes. I think you're right. No way I would have guessed it's been that long. In my mind his solo stuff was recent. And I guess it is when in comparison to Acid Bath.

I'm getting old.

Both their albums stay in the rotation. They would have been massive if not for the tragedy. You can hear their influence in so many bands that came after.

If you haven't, go listen to their demo CD. It's very cool to hear the songs in raw form. And Dax sounds more like a crazed animal than normal. Haha

One of my all time favorites. Sammy is a riff machine, still putting out great stuff with Goatwhore

Love both albums. Wish they were on Spotify.

Love his first solo album too. His second was ok, but I wish he’d put out more music. It’s been forever.

Timeless for sure. 2 of my all time favorite albums. Dax’s catalog is great. Agents of Oblivion is running a close 3rd to the 2 Acid Bath albums for me, but I enjoy all of his work.

Been friends with Dax since 2001.He's in Lafayette right now, just bought a house, and he's working on his home studio. He said he has about 2-3 albums worth of new material. He's taking his time but he is progressing.

The two acid bath albums are legendary. My favorite of Dax's stuff is the deadboy album: "If this is Hell, then I'm lucky" . Just great stuff, seeing that live in 2001-2003 was unreal.

Also, his last album was 2010's "Say Goodnight to the World" if you haven't checked it out, def do.

I used to record his live shows, and I released one acoustic show that has become legendary (Sidebar 5-10-2003) in the scene back then.

Kite String is one of the best pure metal albums of all time IMO.

Some of the best Dax stuff I own is his live shows.

I was just blaring them as I mowed my yard. Funny this thread comes up to give them some love.

I remember you posted about a year ago about his status. That's cool that you know him and keep in touch. I forgot that he's been living in Lafayette.

Didn't he let you listen to some of the new stuff?

Yea I've heard some of his demos, and he's shown me some stuff in real time on his acoustic.

Awesome stuff.

Glad to hear he’s doing well and progressing. He still doing live shows at all? Used to catch him 1-2 times a year at least, but he seems to have fell off the map. Always wondered if he and Sammy still talk? They are both at opposite ends of the music spectrum nowadays, obviously.

He hasn't performed any shows in quite some time, this is his longest break he's taken. I expect him to be back soon. He never really gives me hints towards anything concrete so I don't press him on it, bc he can be a real fickle guy.

He doesn't really speak to Sammy but they do cross paths here and there and are friendly. I saw Sammy at a Dax show in 2008 so there's that.
