I posted a song in the "listening to" thread last night that made me think today and realize that I never see much about the Cure on this board. I didn't view the last half plus of the "underrated thread" a couple of weeks ago and don't know if they were ever mentioned. Probably sounds silly to refer to them as underrated considering the success they've enjoyed.

But by "underrated" I mean that there are surely many thousands of more casual fans of music who know of their most popular songs from the radio but very little else and and think they're just a soft, poppy group.

Yet the Cure have an enormous catalog of outstanding but deeper and more obscure songs, some of which would blow some of those fans' minds. This one may not blow too many minds but it's one of my favorites of theirs:

Like Cockatoos

Any thoughts on the Cure?

This is true unfortunately. Hell it was 92 when I saw them here in Jax and that was when "Friday I'm in Love" was big.
Agreed. Their best stuff definitely predates that.

ETA: You tripped me up with that edit.

Yeah, Friday from the Wish album, right? Mint Car, shite like that. Super Pop, which obviously alientated his Goth and Emo fans.

These albums had some genius interspersed therein as well, I don´t recall the names of the songs, but I knew people who left Bloodflowers and Wild Mood Swings on constantly, when they came out. There was some shite which produced ambivalence, and some which was good.
