Rare combination of power, musical ability, and alcohol tolerance. RIP Bonzo.

Jeff Ocheltree (Bonham's last drum tech) has a series of videos showing all the correct equipment setups. I'm a novice drummer myself, so I am fascinated by all that stuff.

Ludwig was the biggest name in rock drums back - there is no telling how many Vistalite sets that John Bonham moved merely by using them in live performances.

Plant never really recovered from the loss of his friend. never had the heart to re-form LZ without him.

I think maybe he was saying the "good" bad, like, "That chick is bad."

Back about 94 my buddy who knew Jeff Ocheltree (Bonham's drum tech) got to store his silver sparkle Ludwig kit, gong & all at his house for a couple weeks before it was shipped off to London. We spent every day over there getting hammered & trying to play that beast. I was a huge Zep head as a kid so needless to say it was ten shite tons of fun.

Yeah - those videos I was talking about, Ocheltree has, essentially, a Bonham "museum" in that he has all the kits set up the way they were back in the day. I'm assuming that the family either gave/sold/put on extended loan all that equipment for that purpose.

Ocheltree also helped Paiste come up with a line of drums made from recycled cymbals. Almost certainly Bonham inspired because of the huge sound.

Just noticed your post on Ocheltree, sorry - kind of redundant of me. But fersure, you gotta put the hammer down do play those size drums effectively. When someone sat down that could do it justice it was really cool. The kit would vibrate & sing a good bit after they stopped playing.

I didn't start playing drums until seven years after his death but, like so many other drummers, he's definitely one of my top 5 influences. I have an audio copy of the soundboard recording of his very last show w/ Zep on July 7, 1980 in Berlin. His playing that day was lethargic and uninspired...very abnormal for him. Wish he would've/could've conquered his habit and stayed with us. RIP Bonzo!

Jimmy Page was sloppy live, that's completely different from saying 'there were pretty bad live,' unless you saw them lives on numerous occasions

Mmh, Plant had destroyed vocal chords many a time, and above all, the music was too overproduced to be reproduced by three musicians alone onstage.
