Who's coming with?
Sitting at the bar now, folks already lined up outside. Hoping for a good show, Pnut has hinted about the shows being unique on twitter.

No sound system, but we got Salsa, Give Me A Call, Brodels, and motherfrickin Outside. The band brought it and the crowd went off.

It's a sad day for 311 when a fan brags about them bringing it by playing "Give Me a Call".

here is this cat again. lurking around the music board looking for 311 so he can cry about them.
If 311 is not you thing then go search other topics. I never understood why people feel the need to rant and whine about established bands they don't like. When I see a thread about Staind' or Nickle Back I just don't click on it.

I have been to more than 30 311 shows and have been a fan longer than you have been born probably. They are one of my favorite bands. It is a common perception among 311 fans who have followed them for 20 years that some of their new stuff is garbage. If you disagree then give me a ca-a-a-all.

I myself have 30ish shows under my belt. Like you I remember the days of the Varsity and the intensity of the grassroots/music days. Seemingly unlike you, I, like 311, have evolved and left my youth somewhat behind. So why the "glory days" are great, I also appreciate the new, some of the tunes may not be classic to you or me, but that doesn't mean they are bad tunes or bad musicians by any stretch.
As was said before, if it is not your "cup o tea" anymore, cool, but don't hate on the rest of us who enjoy the shows and the feelings and nostalgia the live shows solicit. It is attitudes like that, that were the message in early 311 tunes. Remember bro? Sing it with us "respect the space of ya sister and ya brother" !

I still go to see them. I'm going tonight. Im going to see them this summer. I still think they are awesome musicians. They are lyrically retarded though. I still love them. But I'm not in denial. That's why nobody chants "Waiting" or "Mix It Up" for an encore.

I really wanted to surprise my wife with tickets, but I wasn't going to pony up $125 a ticket to do it. Also sucked for me that it wasn't on a weekend.

I think you and I know, "waiting" and "mix it up" will never be played during an encore!
"Creatures" was part of encore last night. Also "outside".

my point is how many bands out there have put out 10+ albulms and had all 120+ songs be great. Any band regardless of greatness had shitty songs on thier albums. Plus most bands earlier stuff is better than thier old stuff.
The biggest problem is we remember 311 as Music and Grassroots. I know a bunch of younger generation kids that have no idea 311 ever put out those albums and all they know is 311 now, and love them. It is what it is, but I don't go around yelling about it's not 95' anymore.

I don't ever expect another Transisor or Grassroots, which are my favorites, but I'd be happy with another From Chaos. Universal Pulse just pissed me off I guess. 8 songs and only one worth listening to twice. Uplifter annoyed me but I still had hope for another solid album.
At 22 years old, Id almost prefer singles at this point than new albums every other year full of bad songs with cheesy lyrics nobody ever wants to hear.
