The new Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite collaboration is pretty good if you like blues. Jim James new album is great IMO. Couple from last year I really enjoyed were Anders Osbourne album, and Dr. John's new album

The 2012 Best Album thread by Baloo was fantastic. I think Dr. John cracked the top 10.

When the new Tobacco album drops we will discuss how it's the best album of the year.

I'm loving the new phosphorescent, Foxygen, and Son Volt records. Only heard a little of the Josh Ritter, but it sounds very good.
I wish Frightened Rabbit would strip their songs down more. I heard the lead singer/songwriter on KUTX last week play some of the new stuff solo (acoustic), and I thought it really brought out his songwriting more than the record does.

Is it a bad thing if they are like the Arcade Fire of Folk music?

They sound like Arcade Fire but if AF was a folk band.

The Knife -- Shaking The Habitual:
Upon first listen, it sounds like a group of Vietnamese people having their intestines pulled out through their mouths.

CHVRCHES - Recover (radio EP):
I like all four tracks. Very electropop, and without the human disembowelment instrumentation that The Knife featured on their new album.

Wavves -- Afraid of Heights:
They are trying so SO hard to sound like Weezer.
So should we call them a poor man's Weezer or a homeless man's Weezer?
