She was 15.
The violent femmes were “my band”. I swear, I would have stabbed you in the throat to steal your tickets way back in ‘89.
Jesus, I’m over 50 now. I never stabbed (or shot) anyone.
Last night, in ATX, at the moody theater (ACL), my middle daughter, me and my 15 year old son, watched the Violent Femmes play the tracks from their first two albums.
Although I bought tickets for me and all of my kids, only the middle daughter was able to make it Austin to watch with her brother.
During the intermission, my daughter convinced a dear old lady to let me and my boy on to the floor for the second set (debut album).
My boy told me that “this was the greatest night of his life.”
Obviously, this was my kids worshipping the band that I grew up obsessed with, but this is truly my Boy’s favorite band
First and greatest show of his life .

That's a nice story, awesome your kids are into geezer rock.
Dude, I had 2 extra tix I had to get rid of. Sold them outside the VFW for face value.

That's awesome. I know parents whose kids just seem to rebel against the music tastes and interests of their parents, and it's disappointing. Mine fortunately seem to share my love and have been to several shows...though they struggle to stay awake til the end of each

My kid's first concert was The Flaming Lips last year when they played the entire Yoshime album. She had a blast. Her second was the Ben Folds Paper Airplanes tour which she also loved.
Decades ago, I was at the old Webster's Diner on Clearview. My buddy was wearing an Eyehategod t shirt. As we were leaving, some rednecks saw his shirt and freaked out
"Eyehategod? What the frick is this shite? I'll fricking kill you, motherfricker. You hate God? Well you're gonna meet him soon."
They followed us into the parking lot. Luckily a cop pulled into the parking lot and they left.

I can remember seeing the sign outside the Chimes advertising for a show there and thinking WTF is this? I did not go. Within the next few months, I was playing their stuff non-stop.

Was pumped my dad and I went to panic for Halloween. It’s always fun to share your musical interests with your parents or your kids. Taking my daughter 6 to her first show… Charlie Crocket.
