I really like all those, too, except I haven't seen "Stalker"... at least I don't remember it.

I think you might have violated a board rule with that post.

it's fairly slow and pretty long (per wiki: The film contains not more than 142 shots in 163 minutes with an average shot length of almost one minute and many shots lasting for more than four minutes.) ... definitely not for all tastes. but it was one of the more powerful movie watching experiences I've had in a while

also a very good tarkovsky movie (same guy who did stalker). at the moment I'm trying to do an auteur study on tarkovsky by watching all of his feature films chronologically. may make an epic post about it afterwards.

Seven Samurai
City of God
Band of Outsiders
In the Mood for Love
Fist of Legend

I tried to decide on different types of movies. To be honest, though, other than City of God and Seven Samurai, I could exchange the other three with different movies on different days depending on how I feel. I really liked "The 400 Blows", "Battle Royale", etc. just as much as the others.

Quick question, though. Does "Metropolis" and "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" count since they were silent films from other countries? Cause both of those are in my top 20 all time and would certainly make my list. Then again, I could be overthinking this topic.

No offense but naming movies in their native language when they aren't universally known as such is a douche move. Nobody calls City of God "Cidade de Deus" (unless they are Portuguese for you smartasses). Even hardcore movie snobs agree with this.

I decided that writing the traditional Chinese title of Red Cliff, scanning the image, resizing to 12 point font, hosting on photobucket, and posting in this thread wasn't worth the satisfaction of reveling in my own pretentiousness.
