Do you have a favorite performance by an actor/actress that you never see mentioned anywhere?

Mine is Duval's role in The Apostle. I thought he hit it out of the park with that one (and I think he actually got an Oscar nomination for it) but it's something I hardly ever see brought up anywhere even when Duval is being discussed.

Cable Guy (really...) Not oscar worthy or anything...just pretty solid comedy if you get it a shake.

I always thought Viggo Mortensen was fantastic in "The Road" but nobody really talks about it.

Peter Capaldi in In the Loop. Not many people have even seen the movie though it gets an occasional mention here.

Agree. That's underrated all around.

I'll add Ashley Judd in Bug.

One of the best unheralded monologues in American movies, IMO:

James Caan - Thief

Mickey Rourke's earlier performances were some of the best of any actor at the time--especially Pope of Greenwich Village, Barfly, Johnny Handsome and Angel Heart.

Mickey Rourke - The Pope of Greenwich Village

Mickey Rourke as Charles Bukowski - Barfly

Sean Penn and Gary Oldman - State of Grace

I actually also agree with Jim Carey from The Cable Guy. Many people didn't like the movie, but it was a great comedic performance.

I it always irritated me that everyone talks about Val Kilmers performance in The Doors, yet get no love for his work in Wonderland. Which is also a under appreciated film.

I think you are utterly confused on the premise of this thread.

Pretty much everything ray Winstone is in. He destroys everything he's in and no one seems to notice.

I started a thread a few weeks ago about a movie Winstone was in called Nil by Mouth that was directed by Gary oldman and Winstone killed his role. No one even posted in the thread I dont think :(

Dicaprio was great in This Boy's Life and he was like 12. Carried the movie and Deniro and Ellen Barkin were in it.
