I'm not really sure what all these numbers mean, but I'm pretty sure that Daniel Day-Lewis at 1 to 9 means he's an absolute lock to win the Oscar in the eyes of Las Vegas.

Haven't seen Lincoln. But the fact that it involves Steven Spielberg, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Tommy Lee Jones I don't know how it can't receive multiple Oscars.

Here's the incredible thing, if either Tommy Lee Jones or Daniel Day-Lewis win an Oscar for Lincoln, it will be the first time in Spielberg's career that he has directed an actor to an Oscar win.

I don't get what people saw in Lincoln. That movie sucked. It was too long, slow and boring. Abe was a complete drag and his stories were terrible. Worst movie I've seen in a while.

You can't tell me you at least didn't get a chuckle out of the story involving Ethan Allen, the British Lord, and the portrait of George Washington in the outhouse.

It was a small chuckle, but definitely not Oscar worthy

Lincoln is a good movie and I would have no problem with it winning in a weaker year, but I think it is one of the worst films of the ones nominated.

I've been saying it all along. bet on this man if you want to win some money. he is the most deserving, but it will be the "shock" moment for the Oscars this year -

I wouldn't bet a dime on Joaquin Phoenix winning the Oscar; it has nothing to do with his acting ability and everything to do with him pissing on the Academy...that's never been a successful formula for bringing home the bacon.

Was The Master not even nominated for Best Picture? Wow.

Lincoln is the third best movie of the year IMO, behind Zero Dark Thirty and The Master. Lincoln is not worthy of Best Picture over either of those movies IMO.

No, this is not how it works. Las Vegas wants even money placed on each side of the wager. They want as much money on Lewis as they have against him. Vegas, and bookies, only wanna collect juice. More than that is lagniappe.

It means that Vegas sees Daniel-Day as the betters odds on favorite. 1-9 is a shitty bet. So they place such crappy odds on Lewis that they are hopping to push money else where.

How can you say that? If I knew someone was going to win this would be a great bet!

Agreed. I don't think it came close to anyone's Top Ten on this board now that I think of it. 2012 was a very strong year for film, and its not even close to being one of the best films. Just typical bullshite that the Oscars eat up.

At 1:9 you better damn well know they're going to win.
