So... WW was running around in the 80s but the only thing the world's greatest detective could find on her was an obscure picture from WW1?

I thought he was looking for a picture that showed Trevor for Diane. Now if Trevor was somehow ported to the 80s, then I can see the point. I have no idea how he’s going to be written into this. Time travel?

No, in WW he sends the original picture to her as a present.
In BvS he finds a digital copy of it in Luthor's files and sends her an email that confirms Snyder has the mind of a child.
