Yeah I meant it more towards him training him to be his successor since Bruce would be physically and emotionally drained after TDKR

Question is does he fill in for Batman for the 8 year absence or become the Bat after Brucey Boy dies?

Who said Batman is dead or even gone for eight years?

The Nolan quote just said the story picks up eight years after TDK.

Batman could have been around the entire time. I expect alot of flash backs. Nolan almost always uses them (exception was TDK).

the Prologue

The prologue will most likely involve Bane bringing down a large plane.

There have been like 8 different stories on what the prologue really is, to where I'm calling bullshite on all of them for the time being.

I agree with this, but if I had to choose one that is the most likely, I would choose the one where Bane breaks his back.

Especially since this movie is supposed to be 8 years later.

I'd say the eight years thing makes the breaking the back opening right after Dent is killed completely implausible. Its not like Bane is going to sit on his arse for 8 years.

This is true, unless of course Bane gets pretty fricked up too in their fight. I read somewhere that's where the mask comes from.

So maybe they both are injured and recovering for years while someone else takes over the Batman mantle to fight off what crime they do have.

Still not sure though, 8 years is a very long time for Bruce to just not be Batman.

There's no way he dies at the end. WB still has toys and other merchandise to market. If you're a smart screenwriter, you can come up with more creative ideas on how to conclude the story.

If Nolan doesn't kill Batman solely for merchandising, he's no better than Lucas. Return of the Jedi sucks solely because of merchandising (not sucks, but isn't nearly as good as it should have been). Plus Nolan's Batman hasn't done much business in merchandising, compared to the pre-Nolan films, which put the dumbest shite in films solely with merchandising in mind. Warner Bros has more balls than most studios, to where if Nolan wanted to kill him, they would let him.

The prologue takes place on a plane that Bane is hijacking with a team. If you want to know more there's an article on ign, I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

I always thought the boy who batman gave some weapon so that the kid's friends would believe him who would end up being batman's replacement, maybe John Blake?
