Well they never said how severe the punishment was for breaking the rules.

I dunno about that. She was willing to break house rules that she knew were a big deal to break so she must have assumed she'd get away once it was all over.

If that were the case, she probably would’ve tried to get away. She broke the rules and went in for her punishment. She either didn’t know the severity of the punishment or knew that dying was a foregone conclusion.

See, I'm not buying either of these.
1. She's a part of an underground network of assassins, which has as its primary professional resource, a membership to the Continental, and the various services provided therewith. The Continental has ONE rule. One. Any reasonable human being would understand that breaking that rule very likely means your arse.
2. I've already touched on why I don't buy the "she thought death was a foregone conclusion" angle. That's just not how human beings operate. And it wasn't necessarily a foregone conclusion. Did Wick simply resign himself to the inevitabality of his assassination at the end of the 2nd movie? No, he fricking ran away.
Anyway, great movie, as I've already noted. This just bothered.
Much more bothered me about the 2nd one than the first. The first was nigh perfect. The 2nd borderline jumped the shark.
