Or Schindler's List, Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Titanic, Goodfellas, Apollo 13 and a host of others set in a different period than the 90s.

Nope...it is set from the perspective of someone in the 80's flashing back to his life in 1959.
