quote:
I’d cry every damn time those two dogs died.
i can still see the scene plain as day where the 'sister dog' was laying in bed and the narrator said 'she just up and stopped eating after her brother died' and she raised her head and looked at the camera then laid it back down.

I was living in Tahlequah (OK) where they filmed both the original and the remake. Beautiful area - might go back there when I retire.
Dave Matthews came into one of the bars (Granny's Attic) one night and drank a few with me and a few coaches. I don't care for his music, but dude was super chill and down to earth.

One of my childhood favorites. Remember reading the book in 5th grade. Little Ann and Little Dan

I remember seeing that book(Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH) in my schools library. It had an interesting cover. What was it about?

Yep.
It really is a great book. The writer was not afraid to expose kids to some harsh and gruesome realities of life.
When the bully kid tries to kill the dogs and trips on the tree root and falls in the axe, the writer describes it in a very graphic way.
It was written before helicopter parents, coddling kids, or everyone gets a trophy parenting ruined generations of kids and turned them all into pussies.
Dammit, now I want to go read it again. Even though I know it will destroy me.
