This movie could be as good as The Dark Knight and they would still hate it. Their minds were made up long ago. I'm going in with an open mind despite the fact that I don't really care for Snyder as a director.

It is what it is. It's like TFA. That movie was a blast and dominated the box office. It was overwhelmingly well received and yet you still have people out there who just didn't dig it for whatever reason. What matters is what the majority thinks and how much money it makes. It won't matter one bit if it disappoints a select few.

You know, painting a narrative ahead of time about how bad reactions to the movie will be is exactly the same as thinking the movie will 100% stink without having seen it. It's the same thing, fwiw.

People are just reacting to the marketing which has been terrible. The Turkish airlines spots were cheesy and heck. They could have learned from Lost on that one.

My mind was indeed made up long ago. I do hate it, and I will not be watching it.

For some reason now people are compelled to decide whether a movie is good or not before seeing it.

The marketing has been crap for this movie, but damn we have only seen about 2-3% of the movie in the context of trailers and commercials.

Marketing can help or hurt the pre-release excitement, but there are countless examples of bad movies with great marketing and vice versa.

Except I wasn't painting a narrative. I was simply offering up a hypothetical.

Who cares? It was an advertisement for an airline using footage that will not be seen in the film.

That's a definitive statement.

It's a statement based in fact. The post above is living proof of this. Most of the people on this board have already made up their minds as to whether they will like it or not.

If the truth is "painting a narrative" well then I guess I am guilty as charged.

Haha a couple of people does not mean "most of the people on the board." That's the painting part.

People are just reacting to the marketing.

Just remember this post when you end up categorizing anyone who criticizes BvS with the same broad brush regardless of their stance before the film. That's all. It's affecting your own reaction to the film as we speak. Thinking like this will make you less likely to view it neutrally, just like people who want to hate it before it's released. Like I said, just as bad

I cannot remember a worse marketing campaign for anything, much less for a movie.

We recently reported that a new full-length Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer was on the horizon. Today, we’re reporting that this trailer will be attached to Deadpool, which will be released this Friday, February 12, 2016. Or for people like me — who watch day-before-release screenings of new movies — we’ll be seeing the new trailer on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

How can we be so sure of this date? Thanks to Batman-News, we have a schedule from trailer distributor Deluxe Digital Cinema which clearly shows that the trailer will be attached to the first solo outing of the Merc with a Mouth.

It goes without saying that the trailer will most likely be released online simultaneously with its release in theaters. So make sure to come back to Bam Smack Pow where we’ll have our reaction and review of the latest and, most likely, final trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Personally I think they're out to try to redeem themselves after that last trailer.

Regarding the last trailer: What I think some people fail to understand is that a lot of times the director does not have the final say in a trailer. A lot of times it's the studio that cuts them. I don't know if that's what happened in this case, but people blaming Snyder for being "reactionary" for this when we don't even know who cut it is premature, IMO.

This...a million times this.

I've never thought of myself as any kind of optimist, but holy frick compared to some here I clearly am.

I guess it's kind of Pollyannaish of me, but the truth is...I want EVERYTHING to be great! I'd love nothing more than every movie or album or book etc to be fantastic...more great entertainment for me! Because of this, I don't make a point of prejudging any of it before ACTUALLY seeing, because then I've already poisoned the well for myself.

Hell, even then I usually find something worthwhile in most things I see. Unlike some, I just don't derive any joy out of shitting on something, even if it wasn't anything that was super enjoyable. It's possible to do this AND be able to discern great from good to mediocre to bad...

I get that POV when it comes to your favorite sports team, or even politics to a certain extent...you're pulling for "your side." But why be like that with entertainment?

I'm excited for this movie...but I'll have no clue how good it will be until I actually get to sit down and watch it. And even then, I'll likely come away fully entertained, whether I feel the movie captured the characters exactly the way I'd have wanted them to.

That's true as well...

Something to consider...two of the absolute BEST trailers in the past 10 years were for movies directed by Snyder. whether someone ultimately liked the movies or not, it's hard to argue that when the trailers hit...EVERYONE was pumped and loved the trailers.

Watchmen

Man of Steel

Does make you wonder in terms of those trailers and the ones we've gotten for BvS, as none of them have really stood out like these two did.

People have been right...whether the movie turns out to be or or not, the marketing for it has been pretty atrocious considering this is the first time ever they've teamed up Batman and Superman. The only thing that approached these two was the first tease stuff we got a couple years ago at Comic-Con when the guy read the excerpt from Dark Knight Returns

+1 This board has become incredibly negative. I used to think it was the most sane board on this entire site, but that's not the case anymore.

I can't remember anything about the original MoS trailer(s).

I have the Watchmen trailer memorized. I keep it on my phone to this day. It's my favorite movie trailer of all time.
