I have a retro room, so definitely a little bit of a nostalgia factor going on.

I can actually pull some nice quality out of VHS. I've got a couple of nice players. I have a higher end Panasonic DVD/VHS combo that was one of the last produced. It displays VHS through component out that I have hooked up to a Sony PVM. I get some pretty decent quality with that setup (for what it is)

I also have a Blu Ray/4K collection FWIW

Pretty big on physical collection of movies, TV , and music.

Most older TV shows I collect on DVD. They just weren’t meant to be seen on any better format. Newer TV I get on Blu Ray. Older classic movies the same way. Newer movies I try to get on Blu Ray or 4k. I buy records for my daughter and I still pick up CD’s.

Until this thread I had no idea this was a thing or that there was any kind of market for this

There’s a market if they’re in good shape

I remember my mom taking us kids to Major Video in Metairie the day Top Gun was released for purchase on VHS. The store replaced most of their rentals with Top Gun. Every wall was basically covered ceiling to floor with it. The line out the door was impressive

the excitement and hype around major movies being released for purchase and rental on VHS is an experience from a bygone area that i'm so sad my children will never be able to experience.

this experience peaked for me with Jurassic Park. the day it released i was babysitting some kids down the street and my mom brought it over to me to watch after they were in bed. i was so excited. remember that like it was yesterday.

They take up a good bit of space and the quality isn't great compared to other mediums - So I gave them up.

I also gave away like 150 DVDs for $100 in the rotating DVD stand when we had our second kid because I was tired and purging the house That person made out like a bandit, I had seriously great box sets in there for Godfather, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Band of Brothers, etc.

At that point I no longer had a DVD player.
