I actually just spent some time on the reddit board for TD because I figured that there would be a lot of people loving it, b/c that's what fandom does. But when I actually look at the posts, nope...everyone on there hates it, too.
I tried to dl the latest episode of the Watch, b/c I know those dudes are going to slobber on this season...but it's not released yet, curiously. Usually they release this episode on Sunday night.

I don’t even know what to make of this season. It’s so all over the place, there’s so much going on, they’re making no progress and the investigation aspect is haphazard at best.

This was my comment after Ep3, and it got worse in Ep4.

And this is the ultimate result. If Ep3 was a one-off for "character development" (which is not happening, FYI), that would be one thing. But they went even further ignoring the case in Ep4, which means 1/3 of this season almost had no detective work....in a True Detective season
What sucks is that the setting and setup are legit brilliant, only to end up being worthless, effectively. We're doing a Dyatlov Pass Incident mixed with the Thing in BFE northern Alaska? Let's go

Like I said earlier, we are currently watching
American Horror Story: Night Country
Ryan Murphy would be proud.

I made that comment last week too, but it's not even AHS anymore. It's AHS for like 3-5 minutes out of the hour.
We're watching: This is Us: Night country

And not that we needed anymore verification that its full on sci/fi... It can't be in their mind and the water is making them hallucinate, as the orange has crossed over to the sister.

I just thought of something pretty funny.
I was thinking about the characters, and how this isn't even a "character study" because there is no real development of the characters because they included so many characters and social subplots that there isn't even enough time to devote to character development.
As I was thinking about the individual characters I thought about the young cop, and I realized he's doing about 90% of the detective work...and it's almost all being done off screen
He then fills us in on all the detective work he did off screen via exposition

Yup...
Is that going to be the plot twist? The most stable and on top of things ends up being tied to the incident? Go full on M Night

Are we to assume that the vet guy came and inspected the bodies and that’s how they determined they died before they froze?

What I can't wait for is the writer this season to flip out at all the backlash and try to say something like how audiences don't care about the detective work, and they want to focus on all the other stuff.

There was a whole scene on it... He looked at them and said its exactly what he's seen with large animals in the wild. They don't freeze to death with eyes open, that freezing to death is peaceful. That they were scared to death and suffered cardiac arrest.

Hahaha really good point

I can’t believe they haven’t relied more on the disorienting nature of the permanent night to craft the story. Also no one seems to fear exposure at all, like if you run out of gas or break down out there you’re fricked. Such an amazing location and they barely use it to its full potential.
Unrelated note, are we to assume that the sister killed herself in the pitch dark arctic winter and somehow the coast guard found her within an hour even though she wasn’t reported missing?

Listen bubba, details are for internet trolls. This show is about emotions relationships and characters

yeah, i had the same thought. it's either an enormous plot hole or it wasnt really the coast guard that called her (someone / something else is involved with the death). my guess (hope?) is the latter, because if they are really trying to make us believe that a random coast guard patrol would somehow find her that very night, then the writers really are just saying "frick it".

Yeah, that was weird... When the coast guard called originally I was thinking "WTF" and then they explained she just kept walking until she fell off the cliff. But how would they know thats what happened and she wasn't murdered? And how did they identify her that quickly?

This show somehow makes me hate Jodie Foster. It makes her look like a terrible actress.
Pretty telling.
