this reads more like a list of movies you liked rather than movies that actually handle time travel properly

the third, if doc doesn't die, then marty has no reason to go back and save him, so he just dies in the old west.

I'm trying to think through the first movie, and I cannot find any paradoxes. So long as the reason persists that he goes back to the future (being shot at by some bat shite Iranians while driving a time machine), everything checks out.

2 is exactly why it's not handled well.

I never made a case for it being handled well and have no intention of having this thread become a discussion for that.

I just thought it was cool.

Oh it was handled horrible, everyone looked alike and if not for the great casting it may not have worked.

What was that van damme movie,..time cop? I can't remember how well that was done. But a dude was smashed in his face and his older self automatically gets a scar haha.

Donnie Darko was not handled well.

In fact, it was dumb as hell.

not at all, in fact my list of time travel movies would've started with back to the future, and none of these movies would even be on a list that short

comedies that intentionally break the rules and screw it all up (and in a funny way) get a pass

the others do about the best job that you can do

there are 2 movies on that list that I fricking despise. (sorry freaux, superman is definitely one of them) (good news ace: star trek is definitely one of them)

I can't recall the butterfly effect, I'd be interested to see that one again just to see.

Butterfly Effect was okay in the sense that everytime he changed the past, the future got more and more fricked up.

when did they establish it was his brain dead twin?

ETA: this would actually make the movie a lot less horrible

what is primer?

It's probably the only movie worth mentioning in this thread. It's a hard sci-fi movie about time travel grounded in scientific realism.

Comics.

Supposed to be established in next movie, but they scrapped that storyline.

I cant recall if its explicitly stated during any of the movies but I do know that during the commentary for X3 they say that the body is P. Xavier.

the first video has the commentary in question LINK
