and the Disney+ Instagram page got flagged with a false information tag for mentioning his name in the announcement.

quote:

Disney+ made the big announcement that a new The Santa Clause series will be coming to Disney+. The filming is scheduled to begin in March and will be set after the trilogy of The Santa Clause films. We’ll once again have a chance to see Scott Calvin (played by Tim Allen) as he will soon be celebrating his 65th birthday. Santa begins realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in life south of the pole.

I'm certain of 2 things:

1. This probably won't be amazing.
2. My kids will make me watch it.

Now for the hilarious part:

quote:

the news has caused Disney+ Instagram to be noted with “False Information”

quote:

The Fact-Checker pulled the post as “False” with this conclusion due to the “Conservative Rant Misattributed to Actor Tim Allen”.

Disney eventually pulled the post from Instagram.

The Santa Clause was one of my childhood movies. I had that movie on VHS lol. This is cool news, glad to hear this is happening! I think it would really be cool for Scott to pass the torch down to Charlie to become the next Santa.

The first one is a solid Christmas flick. The second one is ok. The third one is hot garbage. Let's hope they ignore that one as much as possible.

It’s time to bump the thread where grown men were melting like crazy that Allen was being persecuted by Disney for not being the voice in the new Buzz movie because he was a conservative(even though it makes complete sense the voice of actual Buzz would be different)

It doesn't.

Seems reasonable. Have you heard of Gina Carano?

Why wouldn’t the toy have the voice of the person it was modeling?

Do actual Toy Story Buzz and Woody dolls not have Allen and Hanks recordings as their voices???

If Buzz was based on an actor’s portrayal of a fictional astronaut, it would make sense for the actor to have been hired to do the voice work on the toy.

But, if I’m not mistaken, the show depicts the real-life (in universe) astronaut that Buzz is based on. In which case, depending on the circumstances, the toy company may or may not have used the real person’s voice.

Was Buzz (the actual astronaut) a 60s era astronaut? If so, since Buzz Lightyear (the toy) is a 90s era toy (it seemed to be the hottest new toy at Andy’s birthday in 1995), the astronaut may have been too old (or dead) to voice the toy.

Edit: Or get this, maybe the take of the movie is that real-life Buzz isn’t the heroic personality that the toy makes him out to be? Maybe he’s a quieter personality, akin to something like Neil Armstrong was in real life? It could be very well possible that the change in voice actor depiction Pixar is going for is to facilitate a juxtaposition character study of what real-life heroes are really like versus their heroic personas that get sold to the media.

(I probably would have gone with Ryan Gosling doing a vocal version of his Neil Armstrong from First Man rather than Chris Evans if Pixar were doing some sort of juxtaposition of real-life Buzz versus toy Buzz, though.)

Who was fired? Is being fired from Disney the same as being hired by Disney?
