richard donner died in 2021, he directed all 4 lethal weapon films, at 90 he began writing lethal weapon 5 he died before it was finished. mel gibson, shane black and another writer finished it and mel would direct it.

Lethal Weapon 4 was a great send off for the franchise.
Leo Getz gives a great speech about moving on after tragedy.
Riggs finally comes to a place where he can move on from his wife's death and marry Lorna.
Murtaugh accepts Butter's as his future son in law.
And the ending credits showing candid photos of the cast and crew through the years of making the films with "Why Can't We be Friends" playing over it.
It was perfect. Not sure people will be interested in seeing an 80 year old Murtaugh and a 70 year old Riggs bitching about how they're too old for this shite.
