I thought he was a typical Real World douchebag back in the day.

However, through multiple specials and many podcast episodes (I listen to him selectively, I have far too many pods to listen to as is), he can hang with smart people, in an everyman way. Haircut is beyond awful, of course.

He's sneaky smart, and funny. He plays well off of the guests that I've listened to, but he's more empathetic than you'd think, he pays attention to the guest with a decade of university more than he has, etc. It's a level of humility I appreciate, but Von is SMART. Source at the moment is me listening to pod #460, and him hanging in with the guest. Yes, there is a reason I'm not mentioning the guest.

Sorry if I FU by considering this the entertainment board, not just movie/TV.

The best episodes are solo. Jordan peterson episide was my least favorite easily and I’ve probably listened to 250 of them entirely.

The episode with Rick Flair was great.

He gets pretty awkward when he has to steer the conversation. I think he's much better as a guest. He's always super funny on Rogan or Tigerbelly.

Love both of his specials on Netflix and the podcast clips I'd see on TikTok. The wife too. So we were pumped he came to Shreveport on his standup tour.

Worst standup I've ever been to. He was funny, even though it was almost all old jokes from his previous standup and podcast, but it had the oddest/most awkward moment ever.

Before he came out they said no yelling during his set. Well he had people cracking up and one time when the claps/laughter were dying down after a joke someone let out a "woo!" He kind of stops and says come one no yelling. A little later a similar situation happens and someone hollers "love you!". He stops and basically tells them/the audience that he will leave if it happens again and how pissed he was. A few people clap while he's doing this and he just sits there with his hands on his hips in silence. The whole theatre is silent. He starts pacing saying "come on man damn, come on." It felt like forever before he started his set back up. So freaking awkward.

He got back on track and at the end apologized for doing that. But the laughs had died down significantly after that. We were like yea those few people shouldn't have hollered out but it was an extreme overreaction that every comedian we've ever been to would not have blinked twice at, because they weren't that bad. Instead he scolded the audience like a parent to a little child. Not sure how a standup comedian could not expect something like that or worse to happen at every single show.
