Another ideal place, if you can make it there...Cades Cove. Very secluded, shelter already in place, fresh water source, lots of game. People would be more of a problem there than walker's i'd think.

Cades Cove is probably one of my favorite places in the entire world. That is what kills me though about the Walking Dead. If they did what real practical Southerners would do there would be no conflict.

Only issue with a high point would be water.

Catching up.

It annoys me that more of the crew don't utilize more effective hand to hand weapons, e.g., that chick with the katana.

Only problem with Cade's is there is no natural barriers to keep walkers out, eventually they would wander in now if you went up around the summit on to Cherokee you might be okay.

Then you could take hunting trips down to Cade's.

Brad for the most part mountains would be effective deterrants for herds unless they were specifically chasing something. I mean if the herds move somewhat randomly with a group intelligence (as they do in every type of Zombie fiction including gulp the comic and the show) that means unless they get an outside stimuli they wander around on a path of least resistance. Hundreds of miles of Cherokee national forest and the steep hills/mountains that separate and isolate Cades Cove and all of the Smokies from any population center means a herd blowing through Cades is almost impossible.
