I liked the TV show better than the TNG movies. The only TNG movie worth rewatching is First Contact.

I watched TNG: Insurrection the other day on Netflix and it was basically a long episode. I thought I had found some lost episode, but it was actually a movie

Yeah 3 of the 4 TNG movies sucked balls. They all made up new villains, even though the TV show gave them so much to work with.

Is the series finale on Netflix? I can't recall how it ended

Basically the same way it started, but with way cooler special effects.

Yeah. Wasn't it a revisit of the Farpoint mission? I didn't like the finale at all.

The series shouldn't be watched from beginning to end at one time. The plots are formulaic and you will get tired of them. Some supernatural force or being stumps the crew and then the crew finds a new and entirely unexpected way to use the ship's systems to solve the problem.

The crew seems to find a new particle every episode to solve their problem. Tackion particles anybody? How about Neutrinos?

With all of this being said, I would recommend anybody just skip the first two seasons. They have very little redeeming qualities. The third season seems to have better writing and the uniforms are more stylish.

TNG is one of my favorite sci-fi shows (along with Dr. Who).

If you don't like the episodic nature of the series, I recommend you watch Deep Space 9. Been a long time since I've watched it, but I believe those episodes build off one another.

For a first time watcher, I'd recommend starting with season 3. Get a best of list from a Trek website and see the top five or six episodes of each season. If you like it, go back and watch the others.

Good series - best the spinoff shows. A few snoozers and duds each season, but lots of good ones too.
