Anyone watching?

The Rainmaker is an American legal drama television series. Based on John Grisham's 1995 novel of the same name and starring John Slattery, it premiered on USA Network on August 15, 2025.

Premise
A hotshot young lawyer is fired from his prestigious white-collar firm and signs on with a small-time ambulance chaser and her less-than-honest paralegal who work out of a converted former restaurant. He soon finds himself facing off against his former employer in court when he takes on a wrongful death suit involving an African American man who died while undergoing hospital care.

A big Slattery fan, but holding off a bit to see if it grows some legs.

I like it when a movie or tv show beats you over the head with the title. Hot office lawyer lady: "are you ready to stop playing around and (stares at camera) start being a RAINMAKER?!?!?!" It looks absolutely terrible. Really hate lawyer dramas. The most smug and egotistical of all story lines.

Caught Episode 2 last night. It’s pretty interesting so far. I never read the book. The guy is definitely playing Rudy differently than Matt Damon. Looks like his girlfriend will frick him on the case and they’ll play out the B plot with the neighbor girl.

This seems like it’s playing out as more of a whodunit than the criticism of “X” American institution than Grisham was so famous for. Dan Fogler is a really good bad guy.

Do y’all think that was really Lana Parilla’s booty? Cuz damn.

It’s ok so far. Lots of changes from the book/movie, but probably necessary for a series. Would love to see Mickey Rourke make a cameo as Stone’s father, the original Bruiser. Slattery is a great choice for Drummond. The guy playing Deck is perfectly cast. First two eps have not turned me off, but still not “must see.”

On a scale of “My Mother the Car” to “Breaking Bad,” I’ll give it a “Benson.”

So predictions-

The nurse killed the victim. And the hospital tried to cover it up.

Seems that way but then I lean to that being too obvious?

It's on my list.

I'm also a Grisham fan so that helps.

Bump- started this week. It’s not the greatest legal show ever made, but it’s entertaining 4 episodes in.
