Whose do you think was better, and did either deserve the Oscar?
I really was not impressed with either. The daughter part was way bigger. JLC was not even acting enough to get the award IMO.

It was a lifetime achievement award for Curtis. Nothing Oscar worthy about it. But she’s Hollywood royalty so there it is.

The daughter was a lot more impressive to me.
She should have won it.
Fantastic movie.

I can see a case for Kerry Condon, and Stephanie Hsu would’ve had my vote.
Bassett was never going to win for a role she’s already played once in a sequel that wasn’t as good as the first film. Chau’s performance was overshadowed by Fraser’s.
That being said, Curtis deserved it. It’s an excellent performance where she plays against type. She’s almost unrecognizable. The stunts and physicality of the role are difficult. She plays at least three different characters. She creates a believable, menacing obstacle to the protagonist. It’s a better performance than you remember.
