Especially on the tentacle part in the Indian Ocean. That should have been an internal struggle where he was dying. This would have been a great place to show the most moving flashbacks. In fact, the movie could have STARTED with him dying trying to stop this thing...then move forward with the climax being him flying up into the machine with his survival being ambigious to end the movie.

Of course his Zod fight would have had to occur earlier with him already weakened flying to the Indian Ocean on a "suicide" mission to save earth etc.

I thought the Perry White/Jenny Olsen near deaths were so stupid. We could not have cared less about them.

Also, I though the most Chistopher Reeve moment from Cavill was "Don't play games with me general" when he turns himself in. Sounded just like him.

Superman is damn near invincible and its clear that they want to make multiple MoS movies, ambiguous isnt really an option

A studio's intention for future movies is no excuse for ignoring dramatic tension.

Not one person in that movie would actually believe that he died.

It would be disingenuous to feign some sort of "did he die" moment and end the movie like that

"Did he die?" Is not truly necessary. "What happened to him?" would obviously be a fair question.

And we would know what happened to him after the first preview for MoS 2

Thats just not a very dramatic or satisfying ending for anyone

I liked the ending as is. Smallville had a flare for leaving the finale without you actually knowing what happened to Clark. It got old.

If you write the script for the next film, I would rather fricking kill myself than watch it

So there's no Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) in store for this franchise. In the prequel comic, she was part of the crew of the ship that Clark discovered and met Lois in. Unless she's nearly 19,000 years old (she's not) or is frozen in the ice (They aren't going to do some cheesy Marvel plot ripoff), then she's not in this franchise.

Whomever was in that pod probably got out and ultimately died just like the other Kryptonians on other planets did.

I doubt they threw that empty pod in there for nothing

She could be frozen in ice via econo man style.

However, this is a fricking hot Kara. IWHI.

I'm guessing that it was more than likely a throwaway shot that people are severely overquestioning.

They went a bit out of the way to show it

he already saw the pod with the skeleton in it and then it quickly pans to the empty pod

Seems like something that would've got left on the editing room floor if it was so insignificant

I'll stick by the theory that it was/is a throwaway shot that people are reading wayyyyy too much into. Whomever was in that capsule isn't still alive that's for damn sure.

I absolutely believe you're mistaken but we'll have to wait to find out. I just got back from my second viewing and the film was better the second time around. This is an amazing movie. Visually stunning at points. It literally is the film I've been waiting for since Superman II. Whatever editing and plotting points it may have, it succeeded in connecting with what is special about the character, how grounded he is in spite of being able to soar.

Snyder's wife in an interview literally said that it was a thing. Obviously didn't say what, but confirmed it had a purpose

boy, not to be rude, but that just doesn't sound very good at all.
