Good strategy. I've kept everything fairly even but put the priority on Health and Basic Attacks thinking I could stay alive long enough to beat everybody to death. Worked well until now.
To level I've started doing parallel quests without my charcter and using Super Sayain God Goku instead. I used Beerus and either adult Gohan, Whis, Gotenks, Perfect Cell, or Super Buu as my sidekicks. Even then it's still hard as shite the levels I have to fight multiple people and I end up using tons of capsules.
Did you beat all the DLC levels or just the main story?

there are DLC levels?
I beat the main story, Broly, and all the Parellel Quests.
I don't have the patience right not to go for 100% of all the quests though.

According to the wiki there are. It says Demigra messing with history also disrupts the GT timeline, which is seperate from the main DBZ timeline (thank God for that clarification). That's where the DLC's come from.
The first one you fight Tuffle parasite infected Trunks and Golden Great Ape Baby Vegeta.
Next one you fight Neo Ginyu Force (including Nappa) and Super 17
Then it says you fight Omega Shenron with the help of ssj4 Gogeta
Then it says "more coming soon". I hear they're releasing a level with Golden Freiza after Revival of F comes out.
