Yeah I knew exactly what you were refering to, but I didnt want to get screamed at for not saying ******Spoiler***** if I would have quoted that part.

I would bet money on the fact that Nolan is laughing at us because we are trying to fit Tiny into that role. I bet the only reason he chose Tiny was the fact that he knew people would scream BANE and he just wanted a big mean looking dude to do the right thing when you think he wouldnt.

Two face will be in the next one. Eckhart is signed on for a third, plus the movie gave some good hints as to his still being alive

Spoilers:

All they have to do, is say they never found the body and that they assumed Harvey was in the Hospital. Good chance he is in the third. I really think they set it up for the Joker again though.

Even if Ledger was still alive, I'd rather not see the Joker again. They did so much with him in this movie, would you really want another 2.5 hour film centered around him? I wouldn't.

I think Nolan could pull off Catwoman, the only thing to get around is the explaining the cheesy suit and her background (unless he has her appear out of nowhere like the Joker). I could also see Two Face come back. Maybe he survives but they keep it a secret and he escapes or something.

I've heard someone suggest the idea of Nolan not having any real comic book villains for the third one and focusing more on the character development too. Either way, all these hints in TDK don't really mean much. Nolan doesn't have anything in mind for the third, just as he didn't after Batman Begins. He's probably just keeping options open and having fun at the same time.

I don't want the Joker back, just because I liked Ledger's performance so much. I just think it will minimize that if you bring in a new guy to do it. Everyone will want to compare it to TDK and whoever does it will lose that battle every time with Ledger being dead now.

Its still hard for my to picture them bringing back two-face. They basically had a memorial for him at the end of the movie with his face plastered on that poster.

I still think that if they decided to arch out into another set of characters the Riddler is the most likely to show up. The guy is vintage and has played such an important role in the comics it would almost be an injustice for them not to bring him into the series. For serious comic book fans, it would be like if they completely excluded the Joker. The Riddler is the only one who Batman's true identity according to the Comics. Thus giving him an important role

Bane, I think, is just another dark character but the interpretation of his character would need some work. They tried to transition to Venom in Spiderman but you see how that turned out. If they stayed true to the Comics, Bane would be the natural course because of the importance of his character but with Nolan, thats not his objective.

For some reason, if they did bring back two-face, he couldn't be the main character. I think it would take someone like the Riddler that would bring mass-murder back to excite the film.

I'm not looking for a logical story arch, like a real world crime drama. Its cool to see the character struggles and development of Batman, but the heart of the batman comic is basically Conflicted/Relative Good vs. Very Very Bad. It would be a mistake not to make a villian the central theme of the third one. The marketing they used for the Joker was ridiculous. They wouldn't pass that up for the third one considering how successful it was.

cute. You're just speaking for yourself anyway.

If they did bring him back, they couldn't do very much with him that wouldn't be much of the same from TDK. It's moot anyway as you know they're not.

1. there's no way they could top TDK as far as the joker is concerned.

2. No actor will even attempt to reproduce Ledger's performance, nor would Nolan even think about it.

The Joker is and always has been Batmans most popular nemesis. So its only logical that they would put him in a sequel. If Ledger hadnt died I'm sure he would have been brought back.

But they wont recast that role...ever. They left the ending open for the Joker to return...problem is that Ledger didn't.

Nolan's never said he would, and now after Ledger's death he might not ever admit if he was even thinking it. He has said though that he likes to give his audiences something new with each movie and that he doesn't plan the next movie while he's making the one before it.

But if he did have a reason for bringing the joker back, I hope it's not the one you stated. What a dumb reason to have him in the sequel... because he's like, batman's main villain. So it's only logical to just rehash all the same conflict all over again!

stop smoking the seeds you butthole. Like I said, the Joker is the best, most interesting and well known villain. SO ITS ONLY LOGICAL....DUH!....that he would return if he hadnt died. fricking Christ.

I think that the Joker definitely would have been involved in some form or another had Ledger not died.

I highly doubt he would have been the main focus of the plot, but he would have been a player at any rate. The performance was too good and The Joker is too important not to include him, although I don't really think it's a possibility anymore. But who knows with Nolan, he seems to have a knack for getting the right people in the right roles. In about two years time, there's no telling what we will be seeing...

Spoilers....

So that scene at the end with Batman and Gordon where Gordon gives him and evidence bag with a Joker card wasn't meant to tell us that the Joker would be the villain in the next movie?

Please be right!

Does no one but me think that the whole "flipping the coin to decide to kill somebody" is cool? Plus, Nolan made his character much more complex with his love for Rachel.

I really didn't think that Eckhart sold the role that well.

If he were to come back, I hope he doesn't come off as such a whiny bitch. I understand his constant ranting and raving about fairness ties in nicely with the flipping of the coin, but could they make Two Face less of a pansy please?

ETA: I honestly don't think that the character could add a lot to the plot in a third movie. He and the Joker were tied into that theme of chaos that seems to have been wrapped up in the Dark Knight. He'd be as useless in a third movie as Scarecrow was in this one.

At the end of Batman Begins, Gordon gives Batman a speech about escalation.

"We put on kevlar, they use armor piercing rounds
You start dressing up for a bat... and well...
There's this guy has a taste for the theatrical, just like you"

- Shows Batman Joker Card

"I'll look into it"
