I've been watching. On episode four now.
Interesting and the Dale was a well timed concept.
At least I know who was behind all the roadside flower sellers in Austin.

I thought it was ok. Not HBO's best but it was fine. I felt really sorry for those kids. That's no way to spend your childhood. Also naming your son Michael Michael... that's just mean.

I enjoyed McMillions more. I'm not sure how I missed that when it came out but I thought it was way more entertaining.

I finished it yesterday. It was quite an interesting story, one I didn't know.

It was interesting but I don't think it really helped the trans cause. The other highlighted story was about a male doctor playing tennis as a woman.
Then they tried to gain sympathy for that person. Then make Tucker Carlson and his dad out to be huge anti-trans people. When in reality the father really outed two shysters.

Had 'Liz' not been a criminal the Dale could have been a hit. The concept was there, they could have registered it as a cycle and had a hit. Instead she played everyone involved.

Then the tennis player..... you can identify however you like but sports need to be left up to biological identity. Muscle growth and biological factors are different. To point out shysters I don't think is in itself anti trans.

When you repeatedly use words like that, you look like an idiot.

Sorry 'Less Miles'

Spelling a seldom used word wrong is bad. Yet I know I was using the word right.

I'll be sure to fix the spelling. Though I'll keep the word in there because she was a shyster.

They sort of address this in the last episode. One of the talking heads admitted Liz wasnt a great role model or figure, but was important in the way she was treated and her case was handled.

She was criminally prosecuted and served time when other crimes at the time were not.

The focus also became almost solely on her "playing a woman" vs identifying a woman to prove her "shystiness." The defense and media wanted the trans part to be a false bravado to help build their case when it really had nothing to do with any part of the case. I think that's where her importance to their cause comes from.

They compared her lying to big Tobacco. Lying in and of itself is not a crime. Taking money for a product you never intend to produce is. She was conning people since the 60's escaped arrest just to do it again. Then when caught does minor time. Less than 2 years in each case.

She really didn't do the time for her crimes.

Think that's debatable. Every worker testified they were making the car with the intention to roll it out. They had actual engineers working on it and believed in it. They had a functioning prototype.

But again, the point of her importance to the trans movement was how her gender identity became intrinsic to that debate. not whether she was an upstanding person. She obviously was a criminal and always tried to skate around laws and restrictions.

That engineer threw the test drive. Not sure what his motivation was, but there's no way he didn't know how to "not" drive that car in front of potential investors.

Yeah, that was not cool. It was like he was trying to ruin the whole thing. However, it's possible Liz was going to score a big payday then disappear.

There is a series on Motor Trend TV called Seduced By Speed, the first episode is about Carmichael and the Dale.

It is only a 1 hour show and it uses several of the same people but has a few different insights.

The other episodes out already are about the Delorean, the Vector W8 and the next to air is about the Cizeta-Moroder V16T.
