Our local theater had a $1 showing of The Iron Giant: Signature Edition yesterday, so I took the day off and took my boys to see it (they had not seen it before). Brad Bird has directed two of the best animated films ever in my book.

I'm wary of the sequel. The first movie told such a complete story and had such a great arc for each of the characters, I don't know what story is left to tell. I don't see where the tension is going to come from now that they are all secure in their identities as supers.

Then again, I thought Toy Story 3 was dipping into the well too much, and that's the best animated movie ever made, so maybe Pixar knows what they are doing.
