The Fountain is one of my favorite movies, so no, i don't think it's the most over-hyped movie ever. GFY.

I really enjoyed it in spite of Weisz and jackman. I don't dislike either, but would have enjoyed seeing different actors in those roles.

well to be fair, i am pretty sure before the studio slashed the budget, they had different actors in the roles

*ETA: i think brad pitt

Just watched the trailer.

Looks ok, probably won't see it unless it comes on HBO or SHO and I'm chillin on the couch with nothing to do.

Not sure how it can be over hyped if I never heard of it.

It wasn't the worst movie ever.

It was the fourth worst.

4. The Fountain
3. No Holds Barred
2. Tree of Life
1. Whatever Terrance Malick's next movie is.

Would you ask me to explain what was so bad about the Holocaust?

Consider them the same.

I thought if they went full "Kubrick" and made it 2hr 30mins so they can flesh out each "time period" it would have been even better.

Its one of those movies where I think the ending is so great....that I enjoy the movie overall.

And yea Pitt/Blachette were supposed to be the leads at one time. Would have been a completely different story though.

As I said, it's one of my favorite movies of all time. I thought Jackman and Weisz were fantastic, very good together. Jackman makes the story believable. I thought the three story lines converged well together, each feeding off the others, building up to the great realization that Thomas (doubting Thomas, anyone?) comes to in the end. It is one of the most compelling love stories I've ever seen, which is saying something.

All this aside from the fact that it's visually stunning and musically unbelievable. Clint Mansell makes the movie into something else entirely. So many things work on multiple levels it's almost impossible to catch all that Aronofsky does in one viewing.

So yeah, I guess I have a strong bond with it. I think it's better than The Wrestler and Requiem. I'm excited about Noah, though.
