It's primetime NBC vs primetime HBO. Yes George is based on Larry but Jason Alexander created his own character and it's iconic. Larry never gets a show about himself without the Seinfeld credits and Jason Alexander making that "character" one of the best of all time. I love Curb but pretending that Larry does a damn thing without Seinfeld behind him is silly

Jason Alexander portrayal of George is much more diverse than Larry David of himself. They may have the same principles but it ends there
