Don't know if there are any aviation fans in here, but Amazon released a new documentary yesterday about The Blue Angels. It was really good imo and it followed the crew through the year, as the they train and put on shows.

On a related note, I watched the Bob Hoover documentary (must be 20+ years old now) on Youtube. Terrific show and what a heck of a guy. An American hero.

I'll give that a watch. This documentary had some stunning camera shots. It also goes into details about the selection process to be a blue angel pilot. Pretty cool. I always assumed it was just the same guys that were flying, but they're all active military and only fly with the angles for a couple years tops.

We watched it last night. We live a few miles from PEN NAS, so we see them pretty much every week practicing. They never cease to amaze us. We went to both of the airshows here last year, so the footage from those, and Pensacola in general were really cool to see.
Definitely enjoyed the movie, and learned a good bit. Soundtrack was surprisingly good too.

Isn't there an imax blue angels thing coming out this summer? Is that different from this?

No this is it. It only an a week in IMAX theaters and is now out only on Prime.

WTF I was looking forward to this in IMAX. I already missed it?
ETA- internet says AMC still playing it but only on standard screen. This is my first world problem of the day. Dammit.

We used to watch them practice for airshows from the flightline on base. Plus all the other jets and shite that would perform.
