Just finished episode 1.
Hop is now special forces.
Whole town is locked down by military but there are people still living there???????
A giant metal band aid.
(No news reporting this? No media anywhere?)
This train has jumped off the rails and completely exploded.

You forget this is 1987. No internet. Only national news/big newspapers (all on lock down through FBI/CIA/DOD [have been for decades]). This is is the middle of BF Indiana. The official story is a natural phenomenon and quarantine. Thus could be easily sold in 1987.
As for Hopper's skills, he was in Vietnam and while he says he was just a "grunt", I suspect there's more to his story than that.

On Max’s reveal at the end of Episode 3 - did anyone else think she looked like AI or a character from Polar express? I got some uncanny valley vibes.

Seemed like the whole sequence had odd definition/saturation. Holly seemed to look a little different as well.

I remember the hole in the ozone layer being daily news. This would have been groundbreaking 24 hour TV.

Finished EP3 last night. Season doesn’t seem to be getting a ton of positive vibes here but I’m enjoying it. I thought episode 3 was the best so far. Thought I was going to dislike the Holly story line because of the age jump but it’s pretty good.
It’s monster sci fi so there has to be suspension of belief but it is definitely more this season than any other. Feels a lot less “real.”
Might be crazy but you can almost feel the tension between Millie Bobby Brown and Harbour. The chemistry doesn’t seem there this season.
Nancy being boss bitch now is probably my only big complaint.
