Tonight episode was really good I find it funny that so far the main bad has a better back story than Star Man. Hopefully we get a backstory in a future episode.

shite got kinda real in ep 3. killing a high school kid.

are all of the kids at that school related to heroes/villians? Guessing icicle's kid is the "torn" one?

What was the magic man's team name? and why was he so weak? icicle says that wand can do so much more. but, poof, you're frozen.

assembling the team in the upcoming episodes looks interesting.

chances we see flash make an appearance? since they mentioned him by name.

Yeah, didn't expect that. Kudos to the writers for not pussy-footing around with the villain or that death is a possibility in all this.

When she grabbed the Thunderbolt... I have a feeling that's going to cause some problems later on.

shite, I hope so. I hope we get to see more JSA fight scenes like we did to kick off the series.

As a footnote... the owl sticking around makes me wonder if Dr. Midnight is still alive (like maybe that was an old costume he no longer used). That goop he got pulled into could easily be explained away as some dimensional pocket or somesuch. At the very least it could be a good story for the new team having a new mentor (one with first-hand experience at super-heroing), having some power-struggle issues with Pat, mending fences then Dr. Midnight dying at the end.

At one point Johnny Thunder stored the T-Bolt in the ink in a pen. That's how the new Johnny Thunder (Jakeem) got a hold of him in the 2000's.

Which has me wondering if we'll get the T-Bolt or the version that merged with Johnny to keep him alive.

I also think the Wizards wife is gonna play a bigger role than we all were originally expecting
Yeah, she seemed to be more than a background character.

This is one of the things I like about the show, they are still taking chances even though the target demographic is young. She seemed to be positioned for some sort of stronger role, but they took her out with a car "accident". While I don't want the place to turn into Cabot Cove, I do hope they keep surprising us with the writing.

Oh we’re already in Sons of Anarchy fantasyland here. The deaths in this town should at least warrant someone from the State Attorney General’s office asking WTF? :)

But it’s entertaining as hell. They have me caring about these cartoon characters.

This week's episode was good, but it wasn't until the end where Pat and Court are having their conversation that you realize this was all to put them on that first step toward being a real team. While some of the fight scenes still are a little weak in the line work (super jumps, being tossed, etc), the tactics used by Sportsmaster and Tigress were either fun to see, made sense (like the shot to Hourman while he's holding up the car) or both.

Pat's wanting to get the gear back made sense, especially with how careful Pat has been written. The backstories on the kids though, knowing those really sold their reasons for wanting to keep the gear.

I like how they are already teasing future stories (Rex's codes, especially with the Dr. Midnight goggles not being able to make any sense of the formula) and continual shots of the pink pen.

The only problem I saw with the episode was the football game. I get what they are trying to do with Artemis, but it could have used a little more setup (maybe in an earlier episode the coach is complaining to the principal, or another teacher, about having a girl on the football team).

All-in-all, another solid episode.

Good episode. I'm interested in how they'll turn the new Doctor Mid-Nite around from scared baggage into a functioning member of the team.

Artemis and Brainwave Jr. will probably follow their previous histories and join the Junior JSA.

For now I like her in that role. It helps to balance the straight-forwardness of Hourman and Wildcat (and to a Stargirl herself, even though she seems to be losing that as she comes to understand that Pat has a very good point in his caution).

That's going to have to be a big turn for the younger Brainwave considering Stargirl is why Sr. is in a coma in the first place.

Both should end up being difficult turns. At this point the writers seem to have a solid grasp on good storytelling so I look forward to where they go with those characters (and Icicle Jr. as well).

Just came across something where Johns was saying that there are no "Easter Eggs" in this series. If you see something small from the comics, it'll come back later as a part of the story.

So the green lantern, the pink ink pen, they're not just there as a nod.

old guy tells kids to give back their new toys.
kids get mad because old guy won't let them have fun.
kids get asses handed to them by seasoned villains.
old guy saves kids.
kids realize old guy was right.

I was thinking the janitor was the Fiddler but somehow had gotten his brain scrambled. This latest episode showed that was wrong, but who the heck is he? He's not a member of the JSA and doesn't appear in the ISA mural nor snippets from the past (at least not yet).

HE'S SHINING KNIGHT! I'm geeking so hard right now. Love this show. Every show on DC Universe has been fantastic so far. CW shows are usually good for a season or 2. I hope the CW doesn't make this show go the route of typical CW shows after that.

ETA: Could also be called "Sir Justin" and he typically has a pegasus named "Winged Victory." In the traditional comics lore, they were gifted powers by Merlin and then accidentally frozen in ice for centuries to return and help fight the Nazis.

I had forgotten all about that guy. All I could think of was Dane Whitman (Marvel's Black Knight).

Good call!

His nametag on his janitor uniform even says Justin. I love it.
