Most people just want a sound plot, interesting characters, engaging dialogue, and some memorable action sequences. That's what the public wants from its blockbusters and Star Trek 2009 delivered just that.

I really, really didn't like it.

I get that, and trust me there are plenty of movies I don't like, but did you have to derail a thread about it's sequel to bitch about it? It was a Star Trek movie and it was good and people enjoyed it. Let it go.

I feel like this rating is going to get much worse before it gets better.

It usually does for two reasons: Studios usually only allow positive reviews to come out first, so the negative ones don't hit at the beginning. Secondly, some critics live to shite on a movie that gets positive buzz. For me, critics are like listening to crickets. It's noise to drown out the silence, but there ain't much else there.

I think you make some good points and like your Star Trek for the ADHD crowd label

And while it wasn't as bad as what Hollywood does with it's film versions of other tv shows which become almost satires of the series, there were some cases where the characters were just off, or shells of themselves.

With that said, I did think the movie was entertaining as a film, and I could at least accept it as a different way of telling the story. I won't run out and see the new on one the first nite, but i do look forward to seeing it.
