Star Trek: Discovery worth watching?

I watched the first episode (which may have been half of the pilot) and found it disjoint in time and decided to not watch any more till the first season was complete. I then forgot about it
The second season starts this week, but again is only on the CBS+ streaming service.
For those that have watched this, is this worth watching either for free, or with the CBS service?

I gave up on it after 4 episodes or so.

Yes. It gets better and better as the season progresses with a few amazing episodes. Reviews for Thursday’s Season 2 premiere have this year starting off really well.

The first couple of episodes seemed disjointed to me because I didn't understand where it was in the timeline. Apparently this Star Trek takes place 10 years before the original series (Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etc). Once I figured that out I was able to settle in and begin enjoying it.
One thing about the early half of the first season is that it's far more centralized on Burnham as the main character than previous Star Treks which were far more ensemble-based. As it progresses through the first season though we begin to see more character development among the other characters, these stories end up being a far better driver than just the story of the main character.
The first season did a LOT of unexpected things (pleasantly so) and has left itself a shitload of room for growth. I am looking forward to this new season.

If you are a trekkie, it’s worth it. I enjoyed the first season. The production is movie quality.

Worth watching? I think so. Worth paying for, let's just say I'm glad I watched it on Kodi. Maybe I'd pay for a month of binging in another year when they have the new Picard series and some of the other spinoffs.
As for Discovery, the characters and basic plot are fine, but there are some fundamental flaws built into the series. Namely having access to propulsion technology that's more advanced than what you see in future series meaning this tech will have to have a limited lifespan written in so it's stops working or is declared too dangerous/off limits. It also is really bothersome that these Klingons are so physically different than other Klingons. Some people have come up with theories for the differences, basically it's a tribe of neanderthal Klingons, but to me it just seemed to be different for the sake of being different and just like the propulsion tech it makes you think "this just doesn't fit the Star Trek universe" when your brain should be turned off and enjoying the show.
