Patton Oswalt may have indeed liked the film, but this is the same guy who was white knighting for it when AngryVideoGameNerd (or whatever his name is) posted a video stating his intentions to not see nor review the film.

Exactly! People seem to forget that the 1984 original film, while funny, had a lot of genuinely scary moments.

It can be argued review embargo do more harm than protect.

They're like the prevent defense.

It's basically admitting the movie sucks to the public.

Just take reviews like all movies. Don't admit defeat.

UK loves that fat chick.

Her movies like Spy and something whatever do way better over there than here.

I love Patton Oswalt, but I could definitely see him knighting for this movie whether it's good or not.

I've been white knighting for this movie, because I think the folks involved with it are really funny and the backlash against it got waaaaaaaaaay out of hand. But if you don't want critics to review it until opening day, that's an awful sign.

Edit: But I'm confused. Io9 said today they're going to post a review on Sunday, July 10. And I know AV Club was promoting a free Ghostbusters screening in Chicago in advance of the opening.

Wasn't Paton's deceased wife part of getting it made?

And yes if they are trying to keep critics from saying anything that means this will probably make fantastic 4 and battlefield look like great

She played against her previous stupid, oafish characters by playing the most intelligent person on the team.

Plus Statham was funny as hell. When he demanded that they use the "Face/Off" machine on him I laughed damn hard.

I want this movie to fail, and fail big.

Not because of the in your face girl power...though...it will be sweet if that is part of it.

But rather because I am sick of the endless stream of remakes.

I by in large avoid remakes with a passion...I won't reward Hollywood for their lack of original ideas with my money.

When they announced a new ghostbusters...sans the original cast...not connected to the original ghostbusters world in anyway...I was out. The girl power bs was just frosting.

I hope this thing causes sony exec's jobs.

I dont think the studio appreciates how much of a turnoff "in a parallel universe" is to people like me who saw the original in the theater as a kid.

All female cast?

Not my first choice, but I'm OK with this, except Leslie Jones, who is terrible. And this is from someone who hasnt watched SNL in 10years, just a skit here and there online.

If they would've kept this timeline, this universe, and tossed in a "its 2016 and the ghosts have returned, and these women pick up the mantle" i probably would've gone see it, despite Jones being cast. Toss in a few original cast cameos, and I'm good.

But every clip I've seen is a re-do of the original shot-for-shot with a different cast. How unoriginal and unappealing is that?

I know most people don't agree with me, but I was OK with a Ghostbusters sequel. Something that was a continuation of the original with the old cast involved reprising their roles. Maybe with Rogen, Franco, and McBride involved, as long as they did it right. I think I would have enjoyed it. My disappointment by this movie just continued to grow from the time I learned who the cast and director were going to be, to when I first saw the trailer. It looks like a fricking clown show.

I would have been fine with a sequel. Hell I would have be fine with an all female sequel where they were handing off the baton (see the latest star wars).

But the way they have handled this.

pass.

could they be sued for purposefully allowing false advertisement suppressing the bad review, even though the bias could be considered " opinion"?
