I am all in. The Talisman is one of King’s best. And yes, I know it was co-authored by Peter Straub.

You could argue that Stranger Things is just the Duffer brothers attempt at combining classic 80s Stephen King and Spielberg. Them doing The Talisman is almost too obvious.

Why had twelve-year-old Jack Sawyer’s mother frantically moved the two of them from Rodeo Drive to a New York City apartment to the Alhambra, a fading ocean resort and shuttered amusement park in New Hampshire? Who or what is she running from? She is dying . . . and even young Jack knows she can’t outrun death. But only he can save her—for he has been chosen to search for a prize across an epic landscape of dangers and lies, a realm of innocents and monsters, where everything Jack loves is on the line.

So Spielberg and the two guys who ripped off Spielberg. What an amazing collection of diverse skills!

If Spielberg can't even get a feature length film made anymore that's not some comic book character and has to go to Netflix... Then the movie busieness is basically finished.

In. I’d like to see someone redo King’s Bag of Bones. Easily one of his strongest stories and probably one of the easiest to translate onto the screen.

I think A&E did a tv version of Bag of Bones about 5-6 years ago and it was god awful

Understand that Lord of the Rings, a gargantuan movie trilogy, is basically the length of 1 season of a series. So much was cut out to make it more concise and to save time, but it all could have been included in a series, if the studio is willing to commit. Prime apparently has with the new Tolkien series, they've thrown an ungodly amount of money at it.
A book adaptation is perfect for a series, you can basically go chapter to episode.
You probably can get more money from a successful blockbuster movie, but if you want to tell a story, a series on HBOMax, Prime or Netflix is the way to go. Spielberg has enough money, he probably wants to craft something deep.
