I take your mom way to seriously.

I thought last night sucked. I barely laughed at all. This season was ok, but they've traded in too many of the laughs, based on the SP characters and the situations, for smirks stemming from a clever tie in of current events.

I thought last night was pretty funny. I was chuckling throughout the entire episode.
Loved how Cartmanbrah was supposed to be annoying (because it was). And thought it was a solid look at the whole "young people are idiots" sentiment from older people (myself included).
And I'm sorry, but I laugh every time Michael Jackson says anything on South Park. Every time.
Also liked how they tied in tons of stuff from the season as well.
Was a little pissed at the end that they had that actual dude on though, because I really (really) thought they were ramping up to bring out Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo. So that was disappointing (and I'm sure it was on purpose ).

Pewdiepie may be one of the most annoying things ever. My nephew was on a binge watching tear of his last year and I watched it for a while and was like...c'mon man.
I respect most youtube LPers for doing what they do and making bank for it, but he is certainly aiming his content for 5 year olds.

I thought this episode was generally pretty weak.
Seems like they went way overboard trying to tie things into current events. Everything was really hit or miss, pretty meh season for me

This was the worst ever season of South Park, but a decent season for another show.

The finale wasn't just bad, it was kind of embarrassing.

You should just hang yourself if a season of SP is this big of a deal to you.

5-10 years ago, they would have lambasted someone like pewdiepie, a guy that makes his living being a jackass and pandering to the lowest common denominator -- and being a misoginost homophobe while doing so, but instead endorses him and banality in general.
Not to mention the tacked on, unfunny Cosby, Jackson shite and some downright terrible writing - "I'm becoming transgender.." Cringeworthy.

Exactly.
Instead they gave him his own spot on the show, promoted his videos, and even gave him a spot just playing call of duty. Then let him end the episode and speak over the credits.
Embarrassing is a good way to describe this season.
But Trey Parker is a genius. He knew what he was doing and you could tell he was doing it on purpose. I think he's trying to run the show into the ground. That, or the entire season was one long joke on the viewers and society as a whole. In which case, i almost have to applaud the inherent genius of his work which went over so many people's heads. Every episode he told viewers who like the current show to frick themselves and how stupid they were. In the second episode he literally wrote "frick you, now you'll pay me for nothing".
Maybe that was it. Maybe the whole season was a parody of just how shitty society has become and the finale was a perfect fit.
Or maybe he's just lost it and im grasping for meaning and hope in a show i once loved written by a genius gone mad .

With no irony.
I think the final conversation between Stan and Kyle was very telling. The little end of episode conversations between Stan (Parker) and Kyle (Stone) are always telling of the artists behind them.
Parker has said openly before that he is tired of the show, but he can't quit. He feels he owes it to the fans as long as they want it around and he feels he owes it to the guys he has working for and with him. The show employs animators and writers and voice actors and FCC contacts and much more. He feels he can't just quit. So maybe he's just putting the show on autopilot. And this season was a way of telling the old school random story line fans of the show to just quit watching because this is where its headed and it isnt for us.

This is exactly how i feel about that season. And i think it's pretty dead on accurate:

Every episode he told viewers who like the current show to frick themselves and how stupid they were. In the second episode he literally wrote "frick you, now you'll pay me for nothing".

South Park as we knew it is over. And they have no intention of bringing it back.

This is what I got out of it, but i like it. I'm glad someone out there isnt afraid to make fun of how terribly douchy our society ans trends are now. They hammered away at the pewdiepie guy, who I've never heard of but apparently makes 4m a year making shitty videos. Also the whole twitter trending thing, then singing holograms. It was epic. I'm glad they make fun of people because if someone legitimately tries to do it, they normally get crushed by social media.

Where did the idea come from? Trey’s step-son loves PewDiePie & would rather watch him play video games than play with Trey. #SouthPark
