I post a lot about Predator, Total Recall, Alien, Sicario, Clint Eastwood westerns, giant monster/kaiju films... all of which I love the shite out of, and all of which get rated highly by the usual suspects of TigerDroppings.

But Lost in Translation is actually my favorite movie of all time. Beautiful cinematography, beautiful soundtrack, stellar performances, outstanding screenplay. Utterly unique story about how there are no easy answers to the doldrums of life--and how sometimes two lonely people just need someone (preferably a stranger) to share misery with. Just a phenomenal flick all around.

I’m not sure of a very specific audience, but I give her credit for some well-made thoughtful, unorthodox films dealing with unique, but very human, characters.

I’ve seen 3 or 4 and didn’t love any of them but I agree with this. It’s something different.

I liked Lost In Translation, The Virgin Suicides, and the really weird A Very Murray Christmas. The Bling Ring kind of bored me but it looked nice. The cinematography and dream like nature of everything are what I liked most about them. I can completely understand why somebody might not like her work though.

Pretty good description.
