This was the real issue that I had with Prometheus. That being said, I would still go watch the sequel to see if it gets better. I'm really into science fiction, and I'm still interesting in where it is going.

This line of thinking bewilders me.
What is more likely; that people just have different tastes/expectations or EVERYONE else that says they didn't like the movie are just liars and trying to be edgy and different?

On this here message board? Both are just as likely.
Anyway, people that thought it was going to be a direct prequel to Alien were misinformed. I believe it was Ridley Scott himself that came out and said this movie was going to happen in the same universe as the Alien movies, but it wouldn't be a direct prequel.
