I have to say I was shocked last week how they went after Michael Wolfe for being a liar. If SNL gives Trump the benefit of the doubt, you know you’re a fraud.

What makes it seem weird is that they gave Obama a pass for eight years - probably scared to look racist.

This is a good point, although like Napoleon said, Obama was too boring to do anything with. And SNL did make fun of past presidents but I think the difference is that with Trump, every single nightly show bashes him every single day, with a vitriol I didn’t even see with W. So when SNL comes around at the end of the week, it seems like overkill.

That was great people have no sense if humor of they disagree. No one likes lavaar.

"I moved them out the dump called LA and right into beautiful Vytatus, where it's always -3° Celsius with freezing rain. Never dry. Never. Dry."

The one thing you can really get obama for, is his very odd speech pattern.

"Uh...I'd like to... Uh thank you all..for. uh being here tonight"
I think the key and peele Obama skits were good, but snl never really had a great Obama impersonator. Fred Armisson(sp?) Couldn't hit it and Jay just wasn't that good at impersonations. No cast member did a good Trump so they had to hire an outside actor, which is kind of against what sNl is.

The writing hasn't been good in forever. There were some down periods from the 70's to 2000 or so, but mostly up periods.

This has been an unbearably long dry spell. Politics has always been a part of the show, and that's fine as long as it's actually funny.

The first half of the 80's mostly sucked. The dick ebersol era sucked (you can't even see those shows they have been mostly wiped)

This era isn't top tier but it's not Joe Piscapo bad.

They don't even know how to end a skit anymore

This was never more evident than in the "does it even matter" skit with Jessica Chastain this past weekend.

I watched for the first time in years and regretted wasting that three minutes of my life ... it was that heinous.

The old Murray, Akroid, Belushi days ... which I remember like yesterday, were the best.

Eddie Murphy was outstanding.

The Peyton Manning United Way skit is an all time classic.

The skit with Andy what's his name and the girl who sang New York State of Mind is a classic where she calls and tries to hit him up for a booty call.

These days it's just all bullshite.

But seriously, created/wrote Mean Girls, 30 Rock, years of funny SNL, Kimmy Schimdt. I'd say she's pretty funny.

You're not really making a strong case. Fey was kind of funny as Palin.

That's it. And she's probably the funniest girl on SNL since JLD and Jan Hooks.

Girls are funny

Meh. Madeline Khan was funny. JLD is funny.

But, the whole Poehler/Wiig/Fey group? Between not funny at all and barely funny.

If you didn't like 30 Rock then you're stupid.

Gilda Radner is the all time greatest females of the Not Ready For Primetime Players IMHO.

Rosanna Roseanna Danna is a classic. But she did the little girl bit and others with aplomb as well.

Hated that she passed the way she did.

Gilda was also great. Jane was great in her own way, but she functioned more as a straight woman for the NRFPTP - and heaven knows they needed one. Morris could be a decent straight man at times, but they largely wasted him.

The NRFPTP was one of the most talented groups of comedians ever assembled.

(ETA: I'm only using the NRFPTP to describe the original cast, plus Murray.)

(Also ETA - Laraine was too inconsistent to be considered truly great, although she did have moments.)
