At the very beginning of the series the producers said that they would never show him in the suit. I was happy to see that he wore it and that was more than enough for me. Also, everyone knew that Clark wouldn't fly until the very last episode. For smallville, it was perfect. It was never meant to be a superman story, just a Clark Kent story.
