I actually watched the 1st season when it came on 10 yrs ago. All I remember is that the backup QB came in, they won the title and Minka Kelly was a smoke show. Two questions...how good is the series compared to Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc. And should I rewatch the 1st season or just jump right in to the 2nd.

- You should definitely watch it.

- If it has been ten years, I would watch season 1 all over again. Season 2 is the weakest overall season also.

- Breaking Bad and The Sopranos are two of the greatest shows of all-time, so FNL isn't quite that good. But it's still very good and if the criteria for you watching a show was if it was equal to those two, you had better get into reading or movies because you wouldn't be watching much TV.

- Some of the football game scenes are comically over-the-top and unrealistic, so just take those with a grain of salt.

- Enjoy.

I recently watched it for the first time. For me, it's not nearly on the level of the "great" shows. Had to force myself to stick with it at times, but at other times couldn't wait to see the next episode. The show does one of the best jobs of moving on to new characters a d different story lines when some of the old characters leave. Most hogh school shows struggle mightily with this.

you are asking how good a show is compared to two of the five greatest shows in the history of fricking television?

Yes, I really only watch the big shows like those and Game of Thrones, True Detective
(at least season 1), Fargo, etc. I always heard and read people raving about Friday Night Lights the series and wondered if it is on that A level of shows. I'm a far bigger movie fan but I like quality, captivating tv shows also.

Season 1 is a fantastic season of television. After that is all down hill with incredibly forced drama that just makes you cringe sometimes between it's cliches and ridiculous undertones. If you've got time, I'd give it to season 4 but that's being generous imo.

Season 1 is great, Season 2 doesn't exist, Season 3 is pretty good, Seasons 4 and 5 are great. Michael B. Jordan is excellent in the final seasons.

The final episode is a GOAT candidate. But that is just my opinion.

One of my personal favorite shows. It's a bit cheesy at times and a bit over the top soap opera drama at times...but overall if you don't let that bother you it keeps you begging for the next episode.

Um, you absolutely should watch FNL. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

I recommend it. It won't change your life, but it's good TV. Skip Season 2 though. The actual series itself acts like Season 2 didn't happen, so you won't be missing anything.
