Watched it. A solid movie but the marvel humor in some scene didn't work and call me crazy but I felt like they should have talked more in chinese to retain that authentic asian feel.

Example is the compound when a 14 year old asian Shang chi talked to his 10 year old sister in a purely chinese place and for one line, just one line in their interaction, she alked to him in english and then continue the chinese talked.

Some other nitpick that made me just frown in general.

1. They said the Mandarin had conqueror the entire world and there was nothing else for him to go after. I was unaware he took over America at any point in marvel history.

2. The gangster's that killed his mother. They were just ordinary slum gangsters. Like nothing even specials. Also for such a conqueror why was he slumming it up against gangsters of all people. Like...what? This is the fricken Mandarin who conqeuror the world right? Just made no sense that he was fighting such low teir opponents...

Other than that pretty solid, if I discount the marvel stuff and the odd english words that broken up the pacing, it felt like an orignal action chinese fantasy flick.

I saw the marvel SJW creative handprints all ovre this movie. No attractive female lead, no attractive little sister. They serviceable but there are so many hot asian woman they could do martial arts.

Wow, this movie "sucks" for being so highly regarded.

Not saying its a bad movie, I'd give it a solid 7 but it has been getting the 9+ treatment.

The "comedy" in the film is just BAD and distracting. The actors are fine, but some of the close ups of certain action moves just don't need close ups. Like they will pause on Shang-Chi after a series of moves in a close up that WASN'T filmed as a close up and you can tell he is trying to strike a pose that is just not realistic at all. They could have skipped scenes like that and the flow would be better. These are really minor nitpicks but they are distracting and takes your mind off the story/action.

Still nowhere near as bad as something like the first black panther, that is the worst movie in the MCU and the character is SUCH a great character in other mediums.

I didn’t know who she was, and I thought she was distractingly bad.

There were moments where her personality/mannerisms clicked with the scene, but I felt like there were a lot more moments where she just seemed “off.”

I can see how she could be great in comedy. I just found her style to be distracting in this movie.

We have to be the only nation in the world that views female attractiveness as a negative. I'm sure this didn't help Disney in the negotiations with China to get this a release date over there. Why wouldn't they want all the Chinese women to be hot? Awkwafina is absolutely and completely unattractive.
