Movie is from 2006. Just came up on my Netflix. I fund it an entertaining Western. Well acted by both Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan. Kind of an Outlaw Josie Wales storyline in reverse. My only criticism is the Angelica Houston roll.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve never seen it.
Can you tell me more about the Angelica Huston role and why you didn’t like it? Was it the way the character was written, that Huston was miscasted, or did she do a bad acting job?

Spoiler alert!
No, it was her placement in the movie. In the scene, both main characters Neeson and Brosnan are struggling to stay alive in the middle of the desert and almost out of water and strength. Just then she rides up in a wagon, fresh as a daisy offering a single bullet and a tonic in trade for water for her horse. Just really seemed out of place. At first I thought it was a hallucination, but it wasn’t.

Ha! Gotcha!
Yeah, that sounds poorly written! But I’m more likely to watch it now, knowing that I have that scene to laugh at!

Just finished. Damn fine movie. Read up about it and pretty shocked it only grossed 1.2M all in vs 18M to make in 2006. Worth the watch for sure.

The acting is good and the scenery is nice,
but the movie is not good. The Josie Wales in reverse comparison is only because the former confederate soldier is going after a former union soldier - in the Outlaw Josie Wales the bad guys weren’t chasing him because he had killed someone’s wife and child.
Unlike that film, there is no clarity on who is truly the protagonist. The film drags on and on. The ending doesn’t really make sense or provide any type satisfaction
- to say “the only criticism was the Angelica Houston role” is a huge understatement.

I thought the movie ended well. Hollywood could have pivoted a couple of ways with the ending.
1. They could have had Neeson’s character kill Brosnan or the reverse.
2. They could have sugarcoated it and had them walking off togeather, basically resigned to helping each other survive.
Or, how it ended they were resigned to call a truce in their animosity and go their separate ways. The most realistic ending. I’m glad this was chosen over the other two options. It showed the horrors of the war and the humanity of forgiveness.

I wasn't a fan of the movie. It had potential but fell flat IMO.

The Outlaw Josey Wales essentially had all three of those endings as JW killed Terrill, made a pact with Ten Bears and had an understanding/parting with Fletcher.
