If you want to continue the franchise in that direction, then go for it I guess.

I won't be seeing it anyways, saw the 1st in theaters and never really enjoyed the sequels.

Doesn't make any sense for him to be alive, but I fully expect it from such a shitty franchise.

I normally respect your takes but this one is fricking terrible

3 out of the 4 are good movies and the general consensus reflects that. Just because they aren’t your bag doesn’t mean it’s a shite franchise

I don't need a trailer.

You tell me there's a Scream movie and I'm there.

shite, I'd probably be pumped for another I Know What You Did Last Summer too even though I Still Know kind of sucks and the 3rd one that's barely even connected to the first two should be purged from memory.

As for how he could escape without anyone knowing..that's the biggest hurtle to overcome. They would have to do something like we thought he was dead, but he wasn't so we stashed him away in a mental hospital and didn't tell anyone due to the trauma it would cause.

Sticking him in a nut hut that he eventually escapes would work. He wouldn't need to be mentioned in the others so long as everyone thought he was locked away and sedated.

There's just too much that bothers me about the scream franchise. It just never hit right with me. I am a fan of wes Cravens work for the most part, really enjoyed the nightmare series, hills have eyes, last house on the left, serpent and the rainbow and people under the stairs..

I feel quite the opposite on that number though, felt more like 1 out of the 4 was a decent watch and the rest were kinda repetitive and predictable. I had already disliked them, but then in my 20s got involved with a girlfriend I grew to hate. All those were her favorite films ever. So there's that too, having to watch them multiple times against my will

I get people like them, see them differently, enjoy the fun it gives them..im just always gonna hate on them I think. I kinda enjoy hating though, so.. in a strange way they are welcome for that reason.

TD is sometimes an outlet for my rage. I know I enjoy a lot of horrible shite. I'm watching "The Devils Rain" with William Shatner and Ernest Borgnine as i write this.

Eta

Bonus Story..

My mom eventually opened up a dental practice when I was going into my teenage years..she took it upon herself to set me up on a blind date with a girl patient that she felt sorry for. She was deaf and had some more issues which I didn't know going in, on a days notice. For the date, we went saw scream 1. No parents came and to communicate i had to use pen and paper..she could kinda read lips,, but my people came from Houma so there was no chance.

And with that, I also have that strange association with the series. She wasn't a Nasty/shitty girl or anything horrible, I'm just not a hallmark movie and it was all awkward as frick. I'm sure for both of us.

Should we make this the discussions/spoilers thread since it comes out tonight?

I hate when a reviewer sees it once and calls it "a horror classic" just to get their name in the trailer.

Classic really? Was this movie secretly released 10 years ago and only a select few have been rewatching it over and over?

Shouldn't we wait to see how its received by the audience...and THEN wait another 5 years to see if its reached classic status?

I don't trust any reviewer that sees it in a screening and proclaims, this will forever be a Classic! So says I!

I felt it was a solid sequel and the premise for the killers was a natural evolution for the series.

Of all the requels out there, if you put something like Ghostbusters: Afterlife on the positive side of things and the SW sequels on the negative, this trends slightly towards the former.

Spoilers below:

That one girl is starting to carve out a niche for dying in the most gruesome way possible, if you’ve seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, you know what I mean.

End spoilers

I get that the Scream movies have always been meta, but this was just so in your face. Maybe not Matrix 4 level but holy hell.

Spoilers below:

The “reveal” of the killers being two toxic fans that met on Reddit was true cringe. The movie was fine until that. I thought it was obvious it was Quaid and the Asian chick, but the reveal as to why stunk.

Ehhh it makes sense. Think about how certain people act on here about certain movies and get really obsessed with their own fan fiction.

Movies are entertainment. They are all bread and circuses. Hollywood forgets that, people forget that. When everyone thinks they can get it right, no one does and they forget why they enjoyed it in the first place.

To each their own I suppose. Just didn't stick the landing for me. If I were to rank the 5 I would go:

Scream
Scream 2
Scream 4
Scream 5
Scream 3
