I get the feeling that at least one of the three original protagonists don't make it out alive. My money is on Dewey but I could also see Sidney getting the ax as well.

how?

If his body was missing and he was just MIA after the whole situation in the 1st film, seems when the 2nd or 3rd film came around it would have been mentioned.

And, if I tell the police my story..and they are like "well, stu is gone..", there would have been a manhunt and all hospitals would have been on alert for a guy with severe blood loss from knife wounds and head trauma. Giving he could make the trek anyways.

Doesn't make any sense for him to be alive, but I fully expect it from such a shitty franchise.

wonder how it will fare releasing straight to theaters vs stream?

ETA: or did I misunderstand the "only in theaters" part? I will def be trying to watch it.

Thats been the rumor, but would be pretty outlandish his name hasn't come up in any of the others if the body was missing.

Unless this one basically ignores the other 3 even exist.

Its got to be someone from the original because Arquet says "the killer is a part of the past"

Lillard has been pushing to return for years. He keeps saying no way Stu died because of the TV.

As for how he could escape without anyone knowing..that's the biggest hurtle to overcome. They would have to do something like we thought he was dead, but he wasn't so we stashed him away in a mental hospital and didn't tell anyone due to the trauma it would cause.

Who would judge? The first Scream was awesome, definitely a staple of my teenage years.

I don't do movie theaters anymore, but will check this out when goes to streaming service.

Stu

Supposedly Wes Craven had planned for Stu to be manipulating the killer(s) from his prison cell in Scream 3, but changed it at the last minute because of the Columbine shootings. No idea how true that is and I’m not sure it even makes sense.

The working theories are:

- the killer is Billy’s long lost sibling
- the killer is Billy and Sidney’s love child who she gave up for adoption before heading off to college
- the killer is Stu who has been either in jail or in a nuthouse unbeknownst to everyone for the past 25 years

All 3 feel flimsy and lame.

The early reviews are really good. Can't wait to see it.

The killer seems like a relative of somebody involved in the original.

Stu would be over the top however. Maybe he had a younger brother/sister?

Assuming the killer is one of the high schoolers, they would have been born long after the events of the original film.

They did the long lost cousin act in 4. It may be just a random killer from the hs group. There are usually two killers, and what is the deal with the gold mask? Is that two different ones, I wonder.

The “Stu is alive” crowd want to magic away the TV electrocution bit but also conveniently forget that Billy got in a few extra (very deep) stabs on Stu when they were stabbing each other. Stu was feeling woozy and was obviously losing blood at an incredibly lethal rate.

Now, this doesn’t preclude the writers of Scream 5 doing “Stu is alive” anyway, no matter how stupid it is. But the fact remains, it would be stupid.

Sidney would have to be the most Pro Lifiest person in the world to carry that pregnancy to term.

technically, they have an out if they really wanted to.

Matthew Lillard is at the fraternity party (uncredited role) in Scream 2 talking to Timothy Olyphant's character
