I really liked Scarface. And IMO it will always be relevant because of the whole money, power, respect angle and you really see the true personal flaws behind them all. Pride, greed, envy, vanity...all of these pop out at you the whole time you're watching the movie. Definitely a top tier gangster flick.

you watch Scarface and wish so badly it was more. His accent never matches the character...the story and parts of it are awesome, but wish it was so more Miami Vice or Blow and it's not.

In fact, Pacino's portrayal of Montana kinda ruins it for me...more DePalma's fault than AP

A few years ago I was watching Scarface and having the sudden realization that this film is nowhere near as good as I grew up thinking.

Also, Scarface was never good and DePalma is the most overrated director on this board.

That is a really good one. I don't like Dog Day afternoon, yet it is considered by many a "great".

I don't care much for De Palma either.

Pretty much every movie made before like 1960. Alot of 80's movies kind of suck in retrospect. Wall Street is a good example.

Don't forget James Conn and Robert Doovall.

As to the OP, I think Scarface is unwatchable. Never understood the love it gets. Pacino is comically bad IMO, but he probably felt he had to be over the top to stop the audience from thinking of him as Michael Corleone the whole time.
